Exciting News in Vermont Aviation!
Vermont Flight Academy...30 years of teaching students to fly has given US the experience and knowledge it takes to make YOUR training the BEST possible. This is the first flight training course of its kind in Vermont.  Vermont Flight Academy is working in collaboration with Burlington Aviation Technical Center at the airport.

Laurel Zeno, VSGC Program Coordinator
joined Sen. Leahy, LT Gov. Dubie, Mayor Kiss, Brian Searles at the
Hanger that houses the BTC-Aviation Technology School at Burlington
Airport to announce the award of $1 million from NASA to start the process
of permitting and initial engineering of the new building. Many others were there
including airport administrators, BTC, VTC, Ted Brady, Sen. Leahy's VT
Aid, the engineering  firm  and Marcela Leahy. Rick Sylvester spoke
about the school and he was joined by the students, including our VSGC
Aviation Technology Scholarship recipients for 2009.

  • developed a new degree program in Aerospace Technology at VTC, and am Chair of the Aeronautical Engineering Technology Department

  • involved in the creation of an airplane (airframe and power plant) mechanic program at the Burlington (VT) Technical Center, which leads to FAA certification and an optional associates degree. From this project, an aviation advocacy organization was set up in Vermont, The Vermont Aviation Advisory Council (VAAC).

 



Funded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Vermont Space Grant Consortium (VSGC) is one of a network of 52 university-based Space Grant Consortia representing every state, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia. Through this national network, over 963 affiliate organizations are funded to support science and engineering students, to provide public service, and to offer K-12 science education programs.
