VSGC supports VTC's Brad Miller of the
Randolph Destination Imagination Team
UPDATE!!!
The
Randolph Destination Imagination Direct Flight Team's
experience at Global Finals in Tennessee.
The team had their best
performances in both the Instant Challenge competition and
in their Main Challenge. The Instant Challenge required the
team, in a very short time span (about 5 minutes), to solve
a problem that was not known in advance. The team worked
together very well, and I am sure their performance helped
their overall placement in the competition.
For the main challenge, the team
had built another aircraft launcher and redesigned their
aircraft since the Vermont State Competition. There was
some logistical confusion once the team had two launchers to
coordinate, but they pulled through and improved their raw
scores for test flights.
The team placed 31st out of 63
teams from around the world. It is particularly
impressive that a team from such a small state could do so
well against much larger states and countries. The Direct
Flight team had worked very hard on their challenge. There
were more than 10,000 people at the event and you can see
the webcasts of some of the highlights at
http://www.globalfinals.org/
I have also attached a couple of
photos of the team members. One is in front of the TADA
background after they completed their Instant Challenge.
The two others are of the Main Challenge as they get ready
and then perform their test flights and dramatic
performance. They are a bit blurry, as the coach I didn't
have time to take many pictures. If I can get some better
ones, I will send a couple more along.
I want to thank you again for supporting our efforts to go to
the Global Finals at the University of Tennessee.
