2009 FIRST Robotics / BAE Granite State Regional Competition

Hello to All
We have just returned from the 2009 FIRST Robotics / BAE Granite State Regional Competition in Manchester, NH.

Our team did great throughout the three days of competition. We played a total of 22 matches, with only minor modifications and repairs required between competitions.
Our drive team, scouting crew, pit crew and mentors are to be congratulated. Everyone did a wonderful job, completing their responsibilities while operating under a great deal of pressure. The atmosphere was filled with energy and our team "ate it up".
Following the scheduled matches, our team was selected for one of the eight play-off alliances. Each alliance (one red & one blue) is comprised of three teams, working together to score points against the other alliance teams. We succeeded in the quarter finals, won the semi finals and moved on to the final matches. Our alliance won the first of the final matches, but came up short on the second, which required the third match to be played. We lost the final match, finishing in second place with the silver medals and the "finalist" trophy.
I am very proud of the students on our team. They performed with "gracious professionalism" throughout the competition, representing their team, FIRST and the State of Vermont in a positive, professional manner throughout the competition.
I wish to extend a special thank you, on behalf of our team to all of our team volunteers and team sponsors. Your assistance and support is critical to the success of our team and we greatly appreciate all that you do to allow our students that opportunity to experience FIRST, free of charge.
We will be working throughout the the year to improve and to prepare for 2010 season. We are hopeful and we would love a repeat performance from The Green Team #885 in the years to come.

Sincerely,

John P. Connor

The Green Team 885 robot in action.
Our robot is # 885 and we are dumping balls into the opponents trailer. If you look closely, you can see the ball lifter in the center of the robot. The lifter picks up balls off of the floor and places them into the hopper at the top of the robot. Once the team get close to their opponents, the drive team opens the door and drops the balls.
We had a great build season, which was followed by an exciting regional competition in Manchester, NH.
Thank you to everyone who assisted our team in 2008 / 2009.
