RESEARCH INITIATION AWARDS
As a mechanism for recruiting new research projects, the Vermont-NASA EPSCoR program has developed its Research Initiation Awards. These minigrants assist Vermont faculty investigators who wish to develop promising research projects which may be included in future Vermont submissions to the NASA EPSCoR program. Research Initiation minigrants average $2,500, and up to four of these awards may be made yearly with EPSCoR Preparation Grant funding. Possible uses for minigrant awards include travel to visit a NASA Center to explore possible links with a NASA collaborator, summer support for a graduate student, and seed money for project initiation. The first of these potential uses is especially encouraged as developing and strengthening links between Vermont universities and NASA Centers and Enterprises is a mandate for the Vermont-NASA EPSCoR effort.

Research Initiation minigrants are awarded on a competitive basis. Applicants should send a short proposal detailing the research project and its relevance to NASA priorities to the Vermont-NASA EPSCoR Project Director.
