On Saturday, June 28 at 6:00pm students from the University of Vermont
Alternative Energy Racing Organization (UVM AERO)[1] will demonstrate
their first vehicle design project, codenamed GreenSpeed.
This is an open-wheeled, mid-engine, hybrid-powered racecar built to prove
that performance and efficiency do not have to be mutually exclusive. It
sports regenerative braking, all-wheel-drive, and a computer-controlled
driver-assist. The car was entered in the 2008 International Formula
Hybrid Competition held on May 5-7.[2]
Saturday's demonstration will take place on the University Heights section
of the UVM campus. Please follow signs from Main Street (across from the
Davis Student Center) and see the map link[3] below.
The demonstration is in collaboration with the Governor's Institute of
Vermont[4] but the public is invited to join the celebration (bring your
kids!). This project is a labor of love for the AERO team who are
dedicated to finding sustainable answers to the looming challenges facing
our world. Please come and share the excitement!
Cheers,
Andrew Laing
